RoadAware privacy policy

RoadAware uses precise location to display the current position, determine the road and direction of travel, warn about selected road infrastructure, and record trips when recording is enabled. If you enable background warnings, automatic trip recording, or Android Auto auto-start, location can be processed while RoadAware is not visible.

What stays on your device

Location observations and recorded GPX trips are stored in the app's private storage. Trips leave the device only when you choose Export GPX. RoadAware does not operate an account system, advertising, or analytics, and does not sell personal data.

What leaves your device, and why

When installed city data does not cover your current location, RoadAware sends nearby latitude and longitude coordinates to an OpenStreetMap Overpass service to retrieve relevant road and infrastructure data. The map itself is drawn from OpenStreetMap-based map tiles loaded from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org) for the area shown on screen; like any web request, these tile requests include your device's IP address. Selecting a city downloads a pre-built road-data package for that city from RoadAware's own map server at roadaware.de.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling RoadAware removes its private data. Files you've already exported to another app or location are controlled by that destination. RoadAware excludes recorded trips, active-trip journals, and downloaded road caches from Android backup and device transfer.
